Life at sea and the operation of commercial vessels at sea are experiences that Allan brings to the management team at MIE. Allan started his electrical apprenticeship in 1973 before heading out to sea as a commercial fisherman. He continued his career as a ship’s engineer at sea on a coastal cement carrier before working overseas on oil rigs. On his return to NZ he worked as an Electrical Inspector for a power authority before embarking on a business partnership in the marine electrical industry.

Serving his time in heavy industry and his knowledge of life at sea on commercial vessels has given Allan a unique perspective when it comes to managing the wide range of projects completed by MIE.
